OUR PURPOSE IS TO UPSCALE, ACCELERATE AND EXPAND ACCESS TO EYE HEALTH SERVICES TO MORE CHILDREN IN MORE LOCATIONS THROUGH
The success of Our Children’s Vision lies in its partnerships. A global community of dedicated practitioners, governments, civil society, not-for-profit organisations and donors who are driven to mobilise resources, networks and know-how to impact the lives of millions of our children.
Focused, child eye health programs, integrated into existing health services, can have the biggest impact on the vision of our children. They help break down barriers to services and introduce children to healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
Research is vital to driving awareness and achieving change. We are committed to understanding and communicating the level of need for eye care services and the impact that the increasing prevalence of myopia is having on our children. The knowledge gained will demonstrate the missing link in complete health provision for children.
Our initial target is to provide services to 50 million children by 2020. It is an achievable goal and, by supporting the development of local people and utilising their expertise, we will reach it. We can achieve sustainability and efficiency by operating inside established systems with people who know and understand current processes.
The lack of eye care services is only one piece of the vision care puzzle, another is access to spectacles, and assistive devices. Our Children’s Vision, via appropriate partnerships, is committed to ensuring access to comprehensive services and treatments.
